I am writing this to you with so much hope and expectation, I wish my words will encourage you to help us.
I am Manu Walia, a resident of Delhi, recently studying in 12th standard, and suffering very hard due to financial problems.
Mr.Harvinder Walia (dad) and Mrs.Navneet Walia (mom) tied the knot of togetherness years ago looking forward for a healthy and a pleasant life. Everything was perfect enough when our happiness got ruined.
Financial worries dragged us to the ground, and shattered our hopes in a second. After managing ourselves for those hard and harsh years of financial problems, still exist our difficulties and worries.
We are a family of 4, me, mom, dad, and my brother. After dad’s transport business came to an end, he went in depression for some years, but mom supported him to the extent.
Once again he came back to face the reality, a graduate person was trying to get him a good job but difficulties were the main obstacles in our path. He worked as a driver, then worked in a steel company, and then opened a general store and even went to doors to sell milk.
We were bearing loan in terms of lakhs and still there was no scope of relief and we were unable to escape the vicious circle in which we were trapped in.
Yet again, mom and dad decided to take a loan by keeping the papers of our home to buy dad an auto. The plan worked but not completely.
The auto was still on installments, 11000 a month was to be given as monthly installments. Dad is a sugar patient, and his body and soul gave up one day, but still he kept on going and earned whatever little he could.
But that little was never enough, to fulfill our needs not wants. School fees, tuition fees, household expenses. If I remember we took a loan everytime for paying the school fee.
Where everything was going so wrong, another tragedy knocked our door. On 8th of September, a man called us and informed that dad had an accident while he was on the way of dropping his passengers his auto suddenly turned upside down and below the auto it was dad lying in the state half awake and half dead.
He dropped dad to a nearby government hospital but no proper treatment was available there after struggling for 15 hours on a stretcher, dad asked mom to take him somewhere else.
Private hospital? Was our last hope. But how? And when mom remembered that we had a medical policy and on this basis we shifted dad in a private hospital near our home.
It’s been 6 days of pain and misery for everyone, me, mom, brother, and dad ofcouse. The operation was successful and it came out to be 10 fractures in his right leg from hip to toe.
We have given hope, and lost trust on god. Doctors had strictly said that dad should take no kind of stress and pressure because he is a sugar patient, but dad is doing the opposite he is full of stress and anxiety.
His worries are genuine. He is the man of the house. And even after he get a discharge from hospital, he will be at a bed rest for atleast 8-10 months.
These worries are building a volcano in our minds, financial problems have broken our back to the extent. To fight out and stand and face the obstacles mom managed to get a job in our school as a computer operator but her job was and is still unable to fulfill our expenses. The salary she gets goes for the school fees only and our last hope was instantly dad.
Now, looking towards the current situation, mom cannot leave dad alone and went on to work, and if she won’t go to work obviously she would not get the amount of salary she was getting either.
We could see a tsunami coming and destroying our present and future altogether. My little brother is in class 9th and it’s 4 more impending years of education lying for his future.
Education is the basis of a person, and we both want to study hard and manage our family and rise again to a level we were in the past. But for every desire our basic education is essential.
I want to become a writer, and want to complete my PhD in English. But for everything as I said requires money which we are lacking from a never ending time period.
I could have never imagined this even in my worst nightmare, that I would ask for such kind of help from strangers, but my fate has forced me to to this.
I am writing this because I badly need education for me and my brother to stand on our feet and support our family. I would be very grateful if I could receive any kind of help from you.
