South Indian Bank Customer Care: One of the earliest banks in South India, ‘South Indian Bank’ came into being during the Swadeshi movement. The establishment of the bank was the fulfillment of the dreams of a group of enterprising men who joined together at Thrissur, a major town (now known as the Cultural Capital of Kerala), in the erstwhile State of Cochin. However, bank was given the certificate of private limited bank under the companies Act 1913 and started with the business on 29 January, 1929 in Thrissur.
With whom has bank started? The bank formed by 44 people closely connected to the different organizations situated in Thrissur. All these 44 men have initially paid Rs.500/ – each. This gesture from these people was aimed to serve merchant community of Thrissur so that they can get freedom from moneylenders and to get rid of heavy interest rates. In the initial stages, bank has received support from public at a large scale. However, this does not contributed to the growth of the bank but slowly and gradually bank attained high success which turns into great popularity.
History Bank connected to: In the second schedule of RBI or Reserve Bank of India, South India became scheduled Bank on 7 August 1946. In fact bank has become first scheduled Bank in Kerala in the private sector category. In the duration of complete 85 years, bank has gone through many ups and downs. Not only South India bank however other banks too have also gone through bad experience at the same time as it was the period of takeover, merging, and amalgamations. The bank has extended by taking over the assets and various liabilities of other 15 banks in Kerala in the year1964.
What Bank has achieved Till Now? This financial institution has covered over 100 villages, 15 urban centres, 10 FLC Centres, etc in so many states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Chhattisgarh.
