Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologists 2023 Eligibility Criteria:
Before applying for the UPSC Geologists 2023 Examination 2023, the candidates should check the eligibility criteria below.
Nationality:
- candidate should be the citizen of India
- subject of Nepal
- subject of Bhutan
- Tibetan refugee who arrived in India with the intention of a resident there forever before 1 January 1962.
- The Indian origin person migrated to India from Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, the United Republic of Tanzania, or Vietnam from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or the Eastern African countries in order to settle there permanently.
Age limit:
- For Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist in the ministry of Mines: 21 to 32 years
- For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) in the ministry of water resources: 21 to 35 years
Note: The candidates from the reserved categories will receive relaxations in the upper age.

UPSC Geologists 2023 Application Form:
The UPSC Geologists application form is published online via the official UPSC website. Applying for the exam, candidates must enter all the required information, such as educational information, contact information, personal data, etc. The candidates must choose the examination center when filling out the application form. The scanned passport images and signatures must be uploaded in the application form, in addition to details.
- Only through the www.upsconline.nic.in the website are applicants required to apply online.
- Two weeks before the start of the examination the eligible candidates must be issued an e-Admission Certificate. The Certificate for e-admission will be available for download from the candidates on the UPSC website www.upsc.gov.in. There will be no postal entry certificate.
- All applicants must submit a valid active e-mail ID during the online application form since the Commission can use e-mail to contact them in the various steps of the examination process.
- Note 1: It should be noted that examination fee payment can only be made in an above-mentioned manner. Payment by any other mode of payment is neither acceptable nor valid. Requests filed without a prescription of a fee/mode shall be summarily rejected (unless remittal of the fee is claimed).
- Note 2: Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
Application Fee:
The application for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Examination 2023 will be as follows:
For General/ OBC candidates (Male candidates only): Rs. 200/-
For SC/ST/PwBD/Female candidates: Nil (Exempted from the application fee)
Mode of payment
- Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/PH candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
- Applicants who opt for “Pay by Cash” mode should print the system generated Pay in-Slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day only
- “Pay by Cash” mode will be deactivated at 23.59 hours i.e. one day before the closing date; however, applicants who have generated their Pay-in-Slip before it is de-activated may pay at the counter of SBI Branch during banking hours on the closing date.
- All Female Candidates and Candidates belonging to SC/ST are not required to pay any fee. No fee exemption is, however, available to OBC candidates and they are required to pay the prescribed full fee.
- The interest can also pay the application fee by cash at any branch of SBI using bank challan.
UPSC Geologists 2023 Exam Pattern:
Each category comprises of four papers. In all these categories, General English is a common category. In all the subjects, the exam is a conventional type.
General English exam will be for 100 marks take place for 3 hours duration
I Category: GEOLOGISTS
- I paper will be for Geology which will be for 3 hours. The complete paper will be 200 marks
- II paper will be for Geology which will be for 3 hours. The complete paper will be 200 marks
- III paper will be for Geology which will be for 3 hours. The complete paper will be 200 marks
II Category – GEOPHYSICISTS
- I paper will be for Geophysics which will be for 3 hours. The complete paper will be 200 marks

Note:
- In all subjects mentioned above against respective categories, the candidates competing for the position of geologist, geophysicalist, chemical, and young hydrogeologist shall be required to appear.
- Selection candidates competing in the Geologist and Jr positions. In all topics cited under Categories 1 and 4 above, hydrogeologists shall be required to appear.
- Should a candidate fail to appear in any of the above documents, for the purpose of a written examination in which the post of Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist is selected, his application shall be rejected and part of his or her written examination shall not be evaluated and counted for any purposes whatsoever.

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologists 2023-22 Admit Card:
The Admit Card: Three weeks before the exam, the UPSC will publish its admits card on the official website. The candidates must provide some basic information, such as RID, date of birth, etc, to download the admit card. If the candidate’s unable to find the admit card online, contact the authorities of the UPSC immediately. Without a valid admit card, no candidates are allowed for the UPSC Geoscientist Combined exam 2023.
UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist & Geologists 2023 Result:
The UPSC Combined Geoscientist Examination 2023 results will be published on the UPSC’s official website. The authorities will announce separate lists of merits for all categories. Candidates who are listed on the merit list shall fill in the DAF (Detailed Request Form) and submit it. The DAF printout and the certified copies of relevant papers must be forwarded to the office of the UPSC.
